Mapping of renewable energy resources to develop power

Information on Le Tuan Phong was Deputy Director of the General Department of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) presented at the Workshop on "Wind Energy 2014" by the Danish Embassy in Vietnam in collaboration with global energy company bridge - Vestas, held on 8/12 in Hanoi.

Le Tuan Phong said, before the status of traditional energy sources such as coal, crude oil ... are dwindling, energy markets of Vietnam are more dependent on world energy prices.

In this context, the investment and development of renewable energy sources, including wind energy is consistent way to generate additional power source for electric power demand of the country, thereby ensuring energy security and sustainable development.

In 2011, the Prime Minister issued Decision 37/2011 / QD-TTg on mechanisms to support the development of wind power projects in Vietnam. According to this decision, the total wind power capacity will reach 1,000 MW in 2020 (representing 0.7%) and increased 6,200 MW in 2030 (accounting for 2.4% of the country's electricity production).

However, according to leaders of the General Department of Energy, after a time, the only implemented a number of projects in operation, many problems caused by barriers such as the ability of technology and especially the cost investment leads to higher electricity price was more dominant than other energy sources such as hydroelectric, thermoelectric ...

Research at No. 1 wind power projects operating in Vietnam shows that the average cost of construction is $ 2 million for 1 MW wind power and annual operating costs are $ 35,000 for 1 MW wind power, this is very high compared to the repayment ability of investors.

Before this reality, in the conference, Ambassador of Denmark in Vietnam, John Nielse said, with many years experience in the development of wind energy, Denmark can share the solution of technological and financial help Vietnam develop clean energy to serve the needs of energy.

Ambassador John Nielse said, with the Embassy of Denmark, a global energy company (Vestas) wind power program through Vietnam 2014 will give his assessment of the opportunities and growth potential wind power market in Vietnam as well as the commitment and support solutions specifically for businesses, investors and stakeholders in the field of wind power.

The workshop will take place in 2 days (days 8 days in Hanoi and 9/12 in Ho Chi Minh City) to share the solution of Denmark as well as the interest and support of the country-specific in wind power in Vietnam. /.
